CHAPTER XVI. TRAFFICCHAPTER XVI. TRAFFIC\ARTICLE 5. SNOW ROUTES

The following streets are hereby established as snow routes with the City of Beloit, Kansas:

(a)   Mill Street, from railroad tracks to 3rd Street

(b)   South Street, from Hersey Street to Mill Street

(c)   Court Street, from Campbell Street to Chestnut Street

(d)   Main Street, from Campbell Street to Chestnut Street

(e)   2nd Street, from Hersey Street to Bell Street

(f)    Bell Street, from Main Street to 2nd Street

(a)   As used in this article, “vehicle” shall mean every device, licensed or unlicensed, upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported, whether such device be in running condition or not.

(b)   It shall be unlawful to park a vehicle on, or fail to remove a parked vehicle from, any street designated as a snow route:

(1)   Between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., every day, regardless of whether snow, sleet or ice is present, between November 15 and March 15; or

(2)   Between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., on any other date, when the City Manager, or his designee, determines that snow, sleet or freezing rain is forecasted and determines that conditions exist which may require snow removal or street treatment operations, in which case, the City Manager, or his designee, shall cause appropriate notice thereof to be given through the local press, radio, or other media.

(a)   Any vehicle parked in violation of this article may be towed and impounded by members of the Beloit Police Department. All costs and fees associated with such towing and impoundment are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner.

(b)   The owner of any vehicle parked in violation of this article may be charged with violation of this article, issued a traffic citation, and subject to a fine of twenty dollars ($20.00), plus any towing and impoundment fees.

Signage declaring the designated snow routes shall be posted by the City on the designated routes.
